Larry was a wild kid. He was smart and funny, very funny. His sense of humor is what everyone remembers about him.

He was my debate partner, and we traveled about the state to debates and forensic tourneys. His official point of view was radical right wing, but in truth he was more libertarian verging on anarchist. My ostensible politics was left wing, but in truth I was more anarchist verging on libertarian. In any case, we had a handle on anything the opposition had to throw at us, and we won all our debates in our senior year, and only lost one as juniors.

He was a wonderful flamenco guitarist. He went away to college, but befor finishing he went to study guitar, and live the romantic Iberian bohemian life, in Spain. I lost touch with him, but Ken Kipnis, a great mutual friend, stayed in touch. Larry wrote a novel about his experiences in Spain, A Certain Protocol, very funny and scary book. I only read it last year, and I can recommend it to everyone who remembers him. He had depths that didn't show in high school, but then so did you and I.

I remember vividly intense political debates with Larry in our history class. I was a progressive (still am), regarded Larry as a right-wing, articulate adversary. It never got personal and even as a passionate young man, I respected Larry's agility of mind and speech. As with all the classmates I remember, you are frozen in time in my mind's eye. That death has visited so many people who remain"alive," is sad and eerie.  Richard Levine

All that has been said here describes my memories of Larry. I continued a friendship with him through college and into my adult life. I miss him until this day and I am turning 80. He wrote in my year book to question authority which has been my approach to work and personal life.

Wishing all who see this post the Best as we roll into 2023. Larry would have had a lot to say to keep us informed and laughing.

All the best,

Sandy Shawhan, AKA Sandy Weinrebe

I never knew Larry in high school, but after reading the eulogies his friends have written, it makes me wish I had known him in high school. After having the privelege to live a long life, I have learned how narrow my scope was especially in high school. Larry would have given me much to carry with me as I matured.

Please tell whomever will listen, especially the young ones, to be open and aware to those that are outside their comfort zone.

Wish I had known you Larry,

Jerry (Buz) Limone

I understand and agree with what Jerry (Buzz) Limone said aboiut Larry. I remember him as someone ot say hello to but not much more. I guess we traveled in different circles. May he rest in peace and God bless those he left behind.

Larry and I were friends.  I took some flamenco guitar lessons from him while we were in high school, and then continued for a while when we were at Penn State together.  We even went out on a few dates, but decided just to stay friends.  He was a great guy, and I was truly saddened many years ago when I learned of his passing.

Wishing all our classmates a very HAPPY and HEALTHY NEW YEAR 2023!

I knew Larry pretty well in high school and was actually horrified by some of his reckless behavior.  At the time i thought "this guy is mentally ill and he's not going to live a long healthy life."  i'm thrilled to find out how wrong i was.  I looked for his book online and actually there's a copy available for about $5.  Wouldn't be surprised if it was owned by one of our classmates.

narrow scope and different circles says it for me   larry was the model of which upscale conservative republicanism might be proud

I only knew Larry Robbins casually. However, I was intrigued by the comments that some of you left about him. I therefore located a copy of his book and have begun reading it. If any of you would like to read it, I'd be happy to send it to you once I've finished. You could thereafter pass it on to anyone else who is interested.
