Walter Fahrer

Walter Fahrer

Walter John Fahrer peacefully passed away on August 24, 2022, in Reykjavik, Iceland. His loving wife, Helen and step-daughter, Tami, were by his side. Walt was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, on August 26, 1943 to Arthur and Hildegard Fahrer. He graduated from Teaneck High School, Colorado State University and the University of Colorado before serving in the Peace Corp. He worked in forestry for the State of California, Weyerhauser, and Washington State Department of Natural Resources before changing fields to business with the Department of Licensing. Boating was a favorite activity for both Walt and Helen. They joined the Tacoma Yacht Club in 1995 and Walt served the club as secretary, a member of the board of directors, twice as Daffodil Chair, and chair of various dances and boat outings. Once the boat was sold he changed from an active to a senior non- boating member, but he enjoyed going to the club for dinner and visiting with people there. He loved taking cruises at least once a year and that is what he was doing when he expired two days before his 79 th birthday. Surviving Walt is his loving wife, Helen, three step-children: Perry (Tina); Raubyn (Rick); and Tamarah; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Still living is one sister residing in New Jersey. He is at peace in the arms of our Lord and we will be reunited when we cross the rainbow bridge one day. His presence is sorely missed, but we know God had a greater need of him than we did here on earth. There is a Celebration of Life to be held on October 24 th , at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey, Washington with a reception to immediately follow in Hallen Hall.

Didn't know Walter but do remember his face in the halls. Much sympathy to his family while they mourn their very loved husband and father.
